Standup Comedy

In early 2025 I started doing standup, and then decided to help others too!

When I started doing stand-up comedy, I had no training or guidance. I did have over 10 years of presenting at conferences and facilitating workshops, but that was on HR and management. Not particularly funny subjects!

I’d also watched a lot of stand-up. So I had a go, and I did okay. I got some laughter and I got better each time, until I headlined a show. And at that show, we had several other performers, two of them first timers that I had trained. And both did really well!

I realised that while I enjoy stand-up, I really enjoy helping people with becoming a stand-up. I ran more training, and as I’m a writer, I decided to write a book too.

So if you’ve always wanted to try stand-up and be successful from the first time – I’m here to help!!

Comedy Lab and Standup training

I live for some of the year in Sevilla in Spain. And now run a comedy lab, with the awesome Randa Stephens, founder of Uprooted Theatre. Every few months, we have an open mic night where new and experienced standups can take the stage. Get in touch if you’d like to know when the next night is.

Most choose to complete my standup comedy workshop first. This is a 3 – 4 hour workshop, with follow up sessions to go through your set, hone it, practise it and be ready to perform! Again, if you’re keen to complete the workshop, let me know. I split my time between Leeds in the UK, France and Spain so may be where you are!

I’m currently writing Standup Bites, to share some quick and easy tools and techniques for you to use to write and deliver a set.
